The origins of the Color Green
The word green comes from the Old English word grēne, or, in its older form, grœni. This adjective is closely related to the Old English verb grōwan (“to grow, turn green”), which in its wonted usage referred primarily to plants, and goes back into Western Germanic and Scandinavian languages. The first recorded use of green as a color name in English was in 700.
What can green stand for?
The color green can stand for many different things. The most popular is when you are talking about nature, and the environment. Most things in nature are green, including trees, and grass. "Going Green" is a term used to describe those who are aware of keeping their environment healthy, and safe. They also are very conscious about how they are spending their money, and being more Eco-friendly. Green is also the color of money, and represents envy, and jealousy.
